Superstition and beliefs in traditional Japanese culture
I am currently writing an essay on Japanese superstitions and beliefs. I would like hear what kind of superstitions and beliefs you (as native people living in Japan) have or have encountered. They can be either good luck omens or bad luck omens or just anything that comes to your mind. If there is a Japanese saying that goes with it, please write that also (in Kanji but with kana reading...if you can also translate it into English that would be nice).
I already have a lot of material for my essay. However, I would like hear about this from actual people, not just read about it from a book. If some superstitions or beliefs have more than one meaning, please add them all.
Thank you so much!
