How to Pronounce Letra V in Spanish? On my Spanish pronunciation guide the letter V sounds similar to an English B, so that's how I pronounce it, and I noticed in some Spanish interviews, movies, and songs that's how it sounds also. At times I often still hear people pronouncing it like an English V which confuses me? For example, Ricky Martin song "Livin la Vida Loca" where he clearly pronounce the V similar to the English V. Is this a regional dialect or incorrect pronunciation? I searched on google and and it seemed to have many, many different answers on how this letter is pronounced.

For both 'b' and 'v' we have the same sound in Spanish (/b/) and this has always been like that. If you can hear some native Spanish people pronouncing 'v' with the English sound (/v/), that is their personal way to do it (some people find it trendy), more likely due to the fact that they speak English (or French, or other language) rather than to any regional dialect or specific accent.
