What does y'a mean? I keep seeing y'a in informal language but Im not sure what it means and how/when to use it.

It's short for 'Il y'a', which means 'There is'. It's quite slangy, so you should probably avoid using it.

As said by Su.Ki. Y a = Il y a You should always write "Il y a" except maybe in a very informal writing style but when you speak it's common to say "ya" in place of "il y a" even in a formal talk. You can listen to a spoken example from a random radio broadcast : http://youtu.be/_k3122IdzwE?t=6m47s "Vous êtes seule à filmer ou Y A quelqu'un qui vous aide?" "Non je suis très très seule." "Alors en parlant de (de) "seule", Y AAAA (speaker's hesitation), Y A la lettre "A" comme (comme) "accouplement" A oui, Y A une vidéo qui s'appelle...

"Swell" is a word that was popular many years ago, in the 1930s and 1940s and possibly even before that. To say someone is swell means he or she is a fine person. A situation can also be swell, as in the expression, "Gee, that's swell." The use of the word now usually is sarcastic. gas stations closest to me now
