Hello Sun Xiao,
"Leben" means "to live", it's exactly the same in English. And "wohnen" refers to living in a building: apartment, house, trailer, hotel, etc.

zu leben kommt aus Das Leben - Life. zu leben is to live as in life. You are not dead, you are alive. Whereas zo wohnen is to reside, to reside in a place, etc. Although both are used colloquoliy for living in a place.

Hi =)
I would say it's the same ;) There isn't a big difference... You can say "Ich wohne in Berlin" oder "Ich lebe in Berlin" ;)
By the way I got your letter today (I saw the date you send it... it took almost three weeks, wow!), it's very nice =) I'll answer as soon as I can *smile*
Greetings =)

Guess that Tommy explained it well.
Everyone will understand you if you say f.ex: "Ich lebe in Berlin" (I'm living in Berlin) It's absolutely not wrong.
But it's a bit more usually to say: "Ich wohne in Berlin."
The difference is that you can't use "wohnen" in sentences like: "Ich bin nicht tot. Ich lebe noch!" (I'm not dead. I'm still alive!)
"Wohnen" describes just that you have your residence at a special place (town, building, ....) and nothing else.
