Do you use Google Hangouts or only Skype? Hi everyone, I usually teach on skype like most people here on italki, but next week I am trying something new.I am having a meeting on Google hangouts with some other online English teachers, and I was wondering if any of you teach or learn there, or is everyone only using Skype? Because on Google hangouts you can also use an interactive whiteboard to show movies, PPT presentations and share videos and other files. I think it could be a cool way to teach. So I am going to try it out. IF any students would like to learn with me on google Hangouts please send me a message!

P.S. I wouldn't have any hesitation about using Google Hangouts if a teacher wanted to use it. And actually I feel uneasy about the future of Skype, so it's good to keep an eye out for an escape route

I use Skype, but one of my instructors also uses Google Docs along with it as a kind of whiteboard. Often I'll have the Skype window open together with Google Docs. The interactive editing feature works quite well for this. I can type something, then she can underline what's wrong, then I can correct it and she can see my correction. I have another instructor who uses Skype, but makes heavy use of the "screen sharing" feature. One minute I will be looking at her video image; the next, she will be showing me slides and quizzing me to describe what I see in them.

Only Skype. I didn't know the Google Hangout features you just described, but it seems like a very useful tool for learning languages. So, definetely I will give it a try!

Have you ever noticed that Skype is hardly able to share your music, recording with your partners? That is a phenomenal fault no one can leave out.
