what's the difference? a lengthy process / a long process

Hi Maria I would say they are almost interchangeable. Long is simply a long period of time; lengthy is also long, but in a way which suggests it might be unnecessarily so, or long in a slightly complicated, annoying or frustrating way. So, a long process is takes a long time to complete. A lengthy process might not actually take very long to complete, but there is an implication that it takes longer than necessary.
