It's a reference to cultural selfishness. In other words, "every man/woman for themselves." I found the song on youtube... so some of the lyrics, he says the tv is telling him that "love" will make him "happy" meanwhile the reality is that his girlfriend is cheating on him and then she tells him it's his fault and he basically calls her on her selfishness.
