Quote... ''According to that stone tablet, when the one who possesses the power of the Rinne, should draw near the moon, the eye that can reflect off of the moon, and grant the infinite dream, shall open. Shine upon the world, Infinite Tsukuyomi. '' What do the expressions ''should draw near the moon'' and ''reflect off of the moon'' mean here? Could you guys give me a few more examples by using the expression ''reflect off (of something)''? (I can not understand it very well!) Thanks in advance.

'Draw near' something means to get close to something. "When you draw near to my home, call me and I'll come right out." "Reflect off the moon" can mean to catch the moon's reflection or can mean to reflect the light of the moon. It's a little harder to answer the second question without more understanding of the story and this 'eye' thing.

To draw near is like a synonym of to approach, for example: he sat down upon a table and motioned me to draw near. To reflect off could have two meanings: 1- To reject or change direction light, heat, sound or other radiation by opposing a smooth surface. "the water of the river reflects off the rays of the sun" 2.Return [a smooth and shiny surface] the image of an object. "the placid waters of the lake reflected off a completely clear sky". Another example could be: "She raised her bracelet to the light, watching the colors reflect off of it and turning it pinkish-gold, like the prisoner's bracelet."

Hey, thank you for the great explanation! However, I still find it difficult to understand the meaning of the expression ''reflect off (something)''. I shall write a few sentences below, and I would really appreciate it if you could tell me whether they are correct or not. 1. She let out a very loud shout that it reflected off the cave walls. 2. By drawing near the water, you may see your image being reflected off its surface. 3. All those lights reflected off the mirror on the wall. 4. To run this experiment, you must know this: When you own a flammable tinder (such as a piece of cloth or a sheet of paper), you should use the magnifying glass to concentrate the sun's heat onto the tinder, and the sunlight that can reflect off of its lens, shall soon spark a fire. *Notice: The fourth sentence may be wrong, but I just wanted to explain the usage of a magnifying glass to create fire by using the expression ''reflect off'' in the context.

As Kim says, "draw near" is "approach", "get close to". It is also a little difficult to know what "near the moon" means. In moonlight? . The diamond was so shiny, all the lights in the room reflected off its surfaces. The sun reflected off the rear window of the car in front and made it very difficult to see. With the sunset at the beach came so many purple waves with the sunset reflecting off the sea. Echos are the sound reflecting off the surrounding hills and features. Measuring the distance to the moon is now easy by reflecting a laser off the reflector left there by a previous moon mission. Reflect on these answers, you;ll get it. :)
