Hi, Nico is correct. The verb "to prefer" can be followed by both the infinitive (to eat) or the -ing form of a verb (eating). Other verbs like this are "to like" or "to love" eg "I love swimming in the sea" and "I love to swim in the sea". Some verbs can only be followed by the infinitive: Want - I want to go shopping Need - He needs to earn some money Other verbs can only be followed by the -ing form of the verb: Stop - He stopped shouting Enjoy - I enjoy singing This page provides some more information: https://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/beginner-grammar/verbs-followed-ing-or-infinitive-1 I hope this helps.
