I help my students avoid directly translating things, as this often results in creating unnatural expressions (E.g When we hang out and friends look a bit bored, we don't say "Are you bored? We say "Do you wanna do something different? （何か違うことする？）in Japanese). Also, I break down common formal Japanese expressions and explain how you can make casual phrases with them.
