My name is Ian, I live in County Down and I have been teaching languages professionally since 1999. I have recently accepted a scholarship to study towards a PhD in education and so I'm taking a break from school, but it is important to me to keep teaching and I am excited about using iTalki as a teaching platform - I have been using iTalki as a learner to learn both Arabic and French.Mostrar traducción

Over two decades, I have taught at every level: mostly with 11 - 18 year-olds within the British educational system, but also in primary schools (I have worked with age 8+) and supporting university students, and trainee teachers. I also give night classes and intensive day/weekend courses for adults. I have never stopped learning, and I believe that my continuing engagement with learning languages means that I never forget the difficulties which learners encounter. I am confident in my ability to help you come to grips with aspects of your target language which native speakers can find difficult to explain.Mis clases y método de enseñanza
My "Speaking Irish" series on YouTube has been very popular, and I find that the questioning/spaced repetition technique can build speaking confidence very quickly. A video series on its own will never be enough, so my lessons will comprise a wide range of techniques depending on your specific needs. Depending on your language and stage, I may recommend a text book which you can work on with in between lessons. For students preparing for exams, I will recommend past papers for you to practise with.Mi material didáctico

Great first lesson! Ian is a very experienced teacher and extremely knowledgable. He is deeply rooted in the language and can clearly explain even the most intricate details of Irish grammar and idiomatic phrases. I highly recommend him.
