Denisse Valenzuela

I am a native English speaker learning Spanish. Denisse is one of my favorite tutors and pivotal to my Spanish progress. I have been working with her since the very beginning of my Spanish journey. She has been the bridge between Duolingo to eventually Spanish proficiency. Denisse is the perfect supplement for practicing my listening and speaking. She is very patient and an awesome conversationalist. In the very beginning, we started very basic. Now we can have 80%+ of our conversations in Spanish through a range of topics in all tenses. I highly recommend Denisse to newbies with basic conservational Spanish or above. Denisse is very helpful because she is essentially native in English and can infer what you are trying to say and *emphasize* explain why . ~Why~ is vital as a non native because we need to learn by rules and reasoning. Do not be afraid of her Chilean accent! She can speak very slowly - depending on your level. I have never had any difficulty!

Talking to Denisse once or twice a week is the best thing that has ever happened to my Spanish. It is such a pleasure talking to her. We discuss a wide range of topics. She is gracious, open minded, calm and brilliant.

Denisse is an incredibly talented teacher who has been helping me with my Spanish language skills. She has a natural ability to make beginners feel comfortable and confident as they start to create their first sentences. As I progressed, Denisse helped me expand my vocabulary and improve my fluency, always with a patient and encouraging attitude. What impressed me the most is her knowledge of various languages, which allows her to adapt to the needs of students depending on their mother tongue. I highly recommend Denisse to anyone looking for a skilled and friendly Spanish teacher.

I've now had over a dozen lessons with Denisse. Up until that point, I had always preferred self-study for various reasons. However, I have to admit that not only have I markedly improved my Spanish - which was already intermediate/advanced - but am also always looking forward to the next lesson.  In contrast to several of the other teachers here, her lessons and teaching style are well structured, with a clear pedagogical goal in mind. She doesn't just have a nice chat with you - instead, you will have an interesting - and sometimes challenging - conversation, pushing you to explore new vocabulary, concepts, and cultural aspects. Add to that her attention to detail, fluency in several other languages, professionalism, and friendliness, and you have an excellent teacher who I couldn't recommend more.

Denisse est l'une des enseignantes les plus dévouées de ce réseau. Elle sait parfaitement s'adapter à tous les niveaux de ses élèves, rendant chaque session non seulement captivante, mais aussi utile et plaisante. Je la recommande à 100 % : avec elle, vous progresserez rapidement !
