Hi, my name is Lucas and I currently live in the Northeast of Brazil, but I was born and raised in London, England. I am a native speaker and fluent in both English and Portuguese because, although I was born in England, I have been living in Brazil for twelve years and have maintained constant contact with speakers of both languages. I am always around an academic environment as my mum is a teacher, which has made me interested in teaching since it’s also a way that allows me to learn. I study Dentistry at a Brazilian university and before the pandemic, I tutored English and Portuguese language students. I really enjoy learning new languages and hope to also make it fun for other people by tailoring classes specifically to attain the students personal goals, which I would do by bringing subjects that will engage the learner to participate more in the class. This way I can help them by correcting and giving tips on how to improve sentence structures where it is needed and also help by using techniques that I have personally utilized to learn different languages over the past years. Overall, I do my best to make this usually hard task less challenging with a minimum amount of struggles by speaking clearly and being patient, so that my classes have a relaxed, informative and informal manner.Mis clases y método de enseñanza
From what I have gathered over time from both my personal experience and tutoring language students, they mainly concentrate on grammar and translating skills but fail to focus enough on conversation. My approach is more conversational based where the student and I can talk about almost any subject they want to focus on, like a normal day to day conversation in which we can discuss hobbies, films, music lyrics or aspects about each others cultural backgrounds. I also like to include certain idioms and slang so that the student can get an idea of how a native speaker talks. Usually, during lessons I practice pronunciation with students to additionally also help improve reading skills.Mi material didáctico

I really enjoy classes with Lucas because he really knows how to make you learn and understand while having a good time. He is super clever, patient, and cheerful! I couldn’t have found someone better than him to take my english lessons!!:)

The classes with Lucas are out of this world! It's just amazing. Out of a rate from 0 to 10, I would give him 100! I believe wholeheartedly that he is one of the best teachers here. I totally recommend him.

This is my second lesson with Lucas. I am still very happy. He is a patient teacher. We reviewed the prononciation of few words. As I am french it’s complicated for me to pronounce complicated words in English so I thank you Lucas for helping me to pronounce these words and he also sent me the audios of these difficult words - this is very helpful for me 😊

Lucas is such a dedicated teacher who brings you into a safe space to talk about anything. In every session I've had I've noticed both his devotion and enthusiasm. If you pick him up as a teacher, you will find that it's so entertaining that time flies whenever you have a class with him.
