Hi guys, I am Misako (Michelle is my English name)! I have 5 years of teaching experience, I am patient and professional Japanese teacher!
I studied in the US (Minneapolis and Portland if you ask :)) so I am able to speak English fluently. I also speak Chinese and a little bit of Vietnamese and French!
I love traveling and getting to know people around the world. So far, I lived in Hanoi🇻🇳, Taiwan🇹🇼, USA🇺🇸, and Djibouti🇩🇯!

Yo como profesor
After teaching at Japanese elementary school in Vietnam for 2 years, I took the Japanese Language Teaching Proficiency Test and began teaching Japanese online through italki in 2021.
I then moved to the United States (Porland, OR) to teach Japanese to American students in-person while earning my Master's degree in Japanese Teaching Methodology.
I gained experience teaching Japanese online / in-person in order to teach grammar effectively while still focusing on conversational practice.

I love meeting people and I absolutely love my job!!
What I prioritize most in teaching is fostering strong, enduring relationships with my students.
In fact, my students and I often maintain long-term relationships, not just as teacher and student but also as close friends. Many of my students have been with me for over a year, with the longest being more than 3 years!
When you learn languages, the most important thing is to MAKE MANY MISTAKES!! Learning Japanese can be challenging sometimes! However, nobody is perfect in a foreign language from the beginning and that is why I am here for you :) I will support you when you need help so don’t worry! Through my first 5 lessons, and the trial lesson, Misako sensei has been a wonderful teacher. She has been patient as I mentally work through the sentences, both interpreting the questions being asked and speaking the answers. She gives some cultural notes on how some things are in Japan. When I bring up alternatives that I've heard used for what we are going over, she has been explaining some of the differences between the options. I can hear the joy in her voice when I come up with an explanation on my own or self-correct when I catch my own error.
Misako sensei has been very helpful so far in connecting the fragments of knowledge I have from my intermittent self study prior. I am looking forward to continuing my studies.

Learning from Misako-sensei has been the best experience! I am new to learning Japanese and her teaching style has been perfect for me. She is patient, kind and so encouraging.
