My first formal teaching experience came in 2016 at Xiamen International English School in China. Later, in Shanghai, I taught Business English to adult beginners at Big Mouth Foreign Languages Services and worked with students of various ages at Thomas English, while also teaching Italian at LEMON Language School. Since September 2019, I’ve been a professional teacher on italki, meeting over 100 students from around the world and conducting more than 600 lessons, making amazing new friends along the way.

This passion led me to pursue a bachelor's degree in translation and interpretation for English and German languages, a master's degree in teaching Italian to foreigners, and a master's degree in E-Learning for teaching Italian to foreigners. During my studies I also lived in Germany for 6 months in Dresden.

I think Italki is a perfect occasion to improve foreign languages because it offers what usually is very rare in traditional classes: a single person dedicated to you and the possibility to speak, freely and with no hurry. Conversation is the most important factor to improve a language. Moreover, I think I can make my students feel comfortable, at ease and relaxed during my classes. My golden rule is: if I am enjoying this moment and I'm having fun, so will the student.

It started as a great passion and then turned into a profession. I’m a teacher certified by the University for Foreigners of Siena (DITALS Certificate). I have taught in refugee centers to adults from different countries (English-speaking, French-speaking, Arabic-speaking) and with different levels of language. I have had experiences in schools for teenagers and in language workshops for children.

After my Master’s degree in Specialized translation, I decided to start a new adventure in teaching my mother tongue. The ability to speak correctly and with a good pronunciation is the most significative and fulfilling skill you will ever get, while learning a new language. That's why I organise each lesson as guided dialogue. This allows us to train at once each aspect of the language: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening. Moreover, it boosts speed of learning and improves mnemonic processes.

I feel like I'm more of a friendly face correcting your errors and pushing you to practice and talk. I think a lot can be done alone with books but what makes talking to a native special is that one goes beyond the (often boring) book and is able to interact and have an exchange with the person. I studied languages in school and for a year in university. I know Italian grammar well and I love grammar in general. I translated for years and got to realise how hard it can be to use the language but also how beautiful Italian is. I do not teach children or complete beginners. I don't have the expertise and don't want to ruin the experience for them!
