Certified Spanish teacher - 10 years, 30+ countries, Galicia to Vancouver. I'm Hugo, from Vigo, in Galicia, northwest of Spain. I've been teaching Spanish for ten years, to students from over 30 countries. I'm based in Vancouver, Canada. I've lived and worked in Spain, Portugal, Brazil and Canada — those experiences shaped the way I teach more than any certificate did. Before teaching full-time, I worked in engineering, hospitality and education. My lessons are personal and flexible. I don't give the same class to every student. I try to understand who you are, how you learn and what you need — and I build from there. Some students need conversation and fluency. Others need structure, grammar or confidence. My job is to listen, adapt and help you move forward in a way that sticks. I'm certified in ELE and work with all levels, from A1 to C2. I work best with curious, engaged people — students who have a real reason to learn Spanish, whether that's family, travel, work, culture or simply the language itself. People who want to actually talk, not just study. The level matters less than the attitude. Being from Galicia, I can also work with students interested in the relationship between Spanish, Galician and Portuguese — a corner of Europe that changes how you hear everything once you discover it.
