Séance 1 - ‘Documentary Club’: Lesson 1

***IMPORTANT - This is an example - actual content of the lesson might change. Every time this course runs we will watch different documentaries*** Watch a YouTube documentary about AI & Education before the lesson. We will discuss the impacts of artificial intelligence on our kids, why education faces an uphill battle and how we might be able to find solutions to these future challenges.

Description du cours en groupe

In this course you will watch 4 short documentaries (around 20 - 40 minutes each) on 4 different topics. You will watch the documentary BEFORE the lesson. While watching the documentary, you will have some optional homework tasks to complete that will help you to understand the main idea and learn new vocabulary. During our lesson we will discuss our thoughts and opinions on the documentary with the help of some thought-provoking questions and interactive tasks. The documentaries will change each time this course is offered but some examples include: - AI & Education - Memories: How they are formed and why they can't be trusted! - Remote work & the Gig Economy - Twitch Streaming: The effects of living online - Fast Fashion: The impacts of consumer culture This course is perfect for advanced level learners (C1) who want a place to express their thoughts and opinions on a wide range of topics and take part in meaningful discussions. The lessons will require you to speak clearly and concisely, support your arguments and engage in debate with others. The course is also suitable for those who are looking to improve their listening skills and students preparing for English language exams such as IELTS. ***IMPORTANT - It is necessary to watch the documentary BEFORE the lesson - The documentary will be on YouTube so if you are based in China you might need to use a VPN*** ***IMPORTANT - The documentaries might be about some quite serious topics, therefore the course is only suitable for people over 18.*** The course includes: - Interactive and communicate weekly lessons - Homework assignments related to the documentary video - Online student community where you can ask questions and discuss important ideas How It Works: WATCH: You will watch the documentary on YouTube BEFORE the lesson THINK: Each documentary will come with some ‘homework’ tasks that focus on comprehension and vocabulary SPEAK: Join the lesson and discuss the documentary
