Terri is a Certified Daring Way Facilitator and Dare to Lead Facilitator through the Brené Brown Education and Research Group. During our conversation, we talk about how to get a job while being authentic and vulnerable. Here are some gems from this episode:

"The employer will be most impressed by an authentic person sitting in front of them and not somebody who has canned, formulated responses that they've heard from every other candidate. Let them see who you really are and not who they are hoping you are."

"Anytime we are caught up managing our image, how we look and appear, and come across to somebody else, that immediately takes us right out of authenticity. So you're moving further away from what's really going to win you that interview."

"What leaders really want to see is that they can trust somebody. If you aren't able to say, "I need help, or I can't do that, or I don't know how to do that," they're going to have trouble trusting you."

David: Disculpe, ¿podría ayudarme? Es mi primera vez en esta ciudad y estoy un poco perdido.

Lucía: ¡Por supuesto! ¿En qué necesita ayuda?

David: Estoy buscando el hotel "Sunset Inn", pero creo que tomé la calle equivocada.

Lucía: Ah, sí. Está cerca, pero caminaste en dirección contraria.

David: ¡Oh no! Sabía que algo estaba mal.

Lucía: No te preocupes. Solo regresa hasta la avenida principal y gira a la derecha.

David: ¿Cuántas cuadras debo caminar?

Lucía: Aproximadamente tres cuadras. Luego verás un parque y el hotel está justo al lado.

David: ¡Perfecto! ¿Es fácil reconocerlo?

Lucía: Sí, tiene un letrero grande y una fachada amarilla.

David: ¡Genial! Muchas gracias. ¿Y por casualidad hay algún buen restaurante cerca?

Lucía: Sí, a una cuadra del hotel hay un restaurante de comida típica. Es delicioso.

David: ¡Me encanta probar comida local! ¿Cómo se llama?

Lucía: Se llama "Sabores del Mundo". Es muy popular entre los turistas.

David: ¡Suena perfecto! ¿Necesito hacer una reserva?

Lucía: No creo que sea necesario, pero si vas en la noche, puede estar lleno.

David: ¡Muchas gracias por toda la ayuda!

Lucía: ¡De nada! Disfruta tu estadía en la ciudad.

David: ¡Lo haré! Que tengas un buen día.
