Actually a great little hack that I've done is I book a lesson with an italki teacher that lives in the city where I'm visiting. Then I have a lesson and ask them for all their local recommendations... what to see, where to eat, what should I do when I arrive. Since you're paying for the lesson, the teacher usually goes out of their way to give you as much information as possible so that you have a great trip.

I would say it's also a great idea to hire a tour guide that can accommodate you throughout your prospective city.

Look for groups on social media, ask for information and directions to safe places, research the temperature, and pack hygiene items, some food and the internet! Making a friend before you go is great luck! #TravelMeetsCulture
