There are beggars in Iran too, but the government has told people don't give money to them...Some of them earn many money! I prefer to pay money to the families who I'm sure they need it or put them in charity fund...Tabriz is one of the cities of Iran which has no beggars...

Yes but not many. From my experience Romani (gypsy) are beggers in most of the cases. It's familliar that mothers send their kids ( as they usually have many) in caffee bars, restaurants to beg for money. Sometimes the workers get annoyed because they won't listen to their warnings to leave the place... I don't know for others, can only say for myself that sometimes I do give the money, sometimes I don't.

Yes, in the United States I find beggars on the street on most days. *Correction* Is it legal in your country to beg? (A small change in word order). I think it is only illegal next to stores and businesses. Some people give them money, I give them food. Thanks!

In my town we have one or two beggars now and then.

Very recent the government  has voted for stricter laws against begging because more and more east europeos are begging here. So especially begging at trains, stations and outside supermarkets are illegal. The beggars now risk two weeks in prison for that.

Do you know of other countries where begging is illegal?
