No need to thank me, Lucia, my dear. It's an honour to have chosen your name. Think of me as your English godmother. Good luck with your studies. Work hard and enjoy your new name! x

Su.Ki. q respresents ts-like sound...

Li Qin, what is the meaning (or the meanings) of your name? If you associate it with any particular meaning, of course:)

Now, you have chosen an Italian name, so remember to pronunce it in Italian way: /lu'tʃi:a/ ! :-D

Thanks for the pronunciation guide, mes amis.

I'm sure that 'Lee Chin' sounds pretty in a Chinese context, but it doesn't sound too nice to the English-speaking ear. It sounds like 'leaching' or 'leeching', which don't conjure up pleasant images.

If you want an English name, then 'Lee' and its variants, such as Leigh or Lea, are obvious choices. Otherwise, you could go for other girls' names beginning with 'L', such as Lucy, Lisa or Lily. Lynne, Lindy, Lindsey, Linda and Leanne also have the advantage of keeping the 'n' at the end of your Chinese name.

The closest Western name to your Chinese name that I can think of is Lucia. It's a very pretty Italian name, meaning 'graceful light' and it's pronounced with a 'ch' in the middle - Loo-chee-a.

What do you think?

Su.Ki. 马先生, sorry, 马先生 is right here of course! I just get used to Russian transliteration where both c and q are represented with the same letter. So I confused them for a moment:(
