This is difficult without footnotes.    Ancient Chinese custom of filial piety that children make sure that their parents are comfortable and needs taken care of before they retire to bed.  Pay respects to them in the morning (by serving them tea and inquiring if they slept well).  Make sure that there is enough heat during winter and cool enough in summer so that parents do not suffer.

As you may know, this comes from the Korean four character classic.
