Describing the weather and climate in my city, region and country

I am writing this entry to practice ways to describe the weather in my city. It's funny that I have decided to write about it just today, because it's such a nice day out. The weather is perfect: the sky is clear, the sun is shinning and the sky is blue. The temperature is 26 degrees Celsius right now. But the weather was a bit different last week. In one week, it rained as much as was expected for the entire month. Last Friday I was late for my work, because it was raining cats and dogs and my umbrella was not enough to keep me dry.
We are in the beginning of spring here. The temperature will probably be going up each passing day until December when there will be scorching. Luckily, last year we bought an air conditioner. So this year, we will be in better conditions to put up with the extremely hot weather.
This winter wasn't really bad. Usually, we have several weeks where the temperatures go below freezing during the night. This year it happened only on a few occasions. Personally, I am not a big fan of the cold, but I find it strange when we have so many changes in our climate. The biggest problem is that if have a mild winter, we ought to have a hot summer.
P.S. I live in the south part of Brazil, along the border with Paraguay and Argentina.
