Usually Brazilians don’t like to refuse invitations because saying that you can’t attend an event might sound rude, so we do accept wedding invitations, birthday parties etc even though we know we can’t make it, so we always say something like “pode deixar, eu vou sim” that means “count on me, I’ll be there” but then guess what? This person never shows up.
It’s not always like this. Obviously we do attend many meetings, but saying “yes” sometimes doesn’t really mean it. 😅
