Ok, so we agree that "high and dry" means you are left in a difficult situation, like a boat out of water.
My first guess is that she is "greeting" the situation. I'm not sure if you've encountered this before, but one other example is "If I ever win the lotto, then it's hello to the good life!"
My second (less-likely) guess is illustrating how quickly the situation went from friendly (hello) to unfriendly (high and dry).
