Is this correct? I upload photos onto my computer. (I'm not sure about the verb "upload" and the preposition "onto".) Can I say, "I load/put/get photos on/to my computer."?

"I upload photos onto my computer" sounds correct to me. Here is my two cents about using the present simple tense. I agree with Gary's comment elsewhere on this page. Moreover, if you are talking about a repetitive action, the present simple is perfectly fine. Example: Neil's neighbor: "Hey, Neil, what do you do every Saturday night when everyone else goes dancing?" -- Neil: "I upload photos onto my computer." It's often hard to choose the proper tense for an isolated sentence. Context helps. "two cents" or "two cents' worth" (idiom) = an unsolicited opinion

It's acceptable to say "upload to" or "upload onto." "I load them onto..." I would not say "I put photos on..." or "I get photos onto..." It would sound unusual to a native speaker, and make it seem like you do not know how to use a computer, unless you're using it very casually. "Lemme get the pics onto my computer, and I'll email them to you."

I think that the right way to say it is: "I UPLOAD photos TO my computer."

I will let others explain the particulars. This verb is kind of tricky. So I will approach it from a conversational angle. Usually, with upload, we use present continuous, or simple future with going to, or depending on the time it happened the simple future or simple past. I just uploaded or I uploaded some photos onto my computer. I'm uploading some files onto my computer. I'm going to upload some photos onto my computer. I'll upload those photos onto my computer. In American English, you can say, I upload photos onto my computer. But it sounds kind of pretentious to say it that way. I'm not sure how other countries would differ their usage. Informally: We may say. I put it (photos) into my computer. I'm not sure if that is substandard English or not, but we do say it sometimes.
