What does 'accomodate it' mean? Lavinia was the sandy little woman by the middle window. She had bought herself a fashionable hat for the occasion, but had done nothing to accommodate it; so that the hat perched on her bird's-nest of ginger hair as if it had dropped there from an upper window as she walked along the street. She was wearing her normal expression of pleased bewilderment and no make-up. Does 'accomodate' here mean comb her hair?

To accommodate something means to provide assistance or help. In this context, the phrase "accommodate it" could mean the lady did nothing to make her hat look special or make it stand out from the rest of her outfit.
