"There is a book on the table" in Arabic (MSA).
Hi everyone! I am collecting examples of existential constructions from various languages. If someone can provide me the existential equivalent of "there is a book on the table" contrasted with the locative contruction "the book is on the table" in MSA (with latin transliteration) I will be grateful. Best regards!
هناك كتاب على الطاولة<= the translation
هُنَاكَ كِتَابٌ عَلَى آلطَّاوِلَةِ<= this one with is with "movement", it shows how we can read it, for example, كَ= ka ; كِ= ki ....
hunaka kitabun aala al- tawila <= latin translation

the different between your two sentences is actually The definite Article in the second sentence. therefore the translation of Inass would be the answer for the first version, however, saying that THE book is on the table needs the article in arabic....
الكتاب على الطاولة
