Is the question "Can you have believed?" correct? We had to translate a few questions to English, and our teacher gave us this as an example. Can you have believed them?==I don't understand why you believed them, it's clear as day they were lying. It's sounds a bit weird to me, but I'm not sure. Is it right to say so?

If you were speaking past tense (which seems to be indicated by the answer that follows the question) you would ask, "Did you believe them?" or "Why would you believe them?" Hope this helps.
