Normally I said " One Thousand and Eighty Four". Anyway, both are acceptable.

It depends on the context of the number. If it's part of a phone number.. it might be better to read each number separately (and reading 0 as "oh") - "One oh eight four" and "One one eight four" If it's in a sequence of other numbers, like a combination/password, you might want to chunk it, such as "Ten eighty four" and "Eleven eighty four" Otherwise, you can say 1084 as "One thousand (and) eighty four" and 1184 as "One thousand one hundred (and) eighty four" Hope this helps! 'one thousand eighty four' - American english 'one thousand and eighty four' - British english I don't know how it is said in other English speaking countries, like South Africa, Australia etc, but either of them will be understood quite clearly in any English-speaking country, so they are both correct in my opinion.

in america the "and" means that there is a period... so the 1184 would be one thousand, one hundred, eighty-four. if you were to say "and" it would be 1100.84 one thousand, one hundred and eighty-four. i learned this in math when i was about 11 ^_^
