Female version of ñeri? I've heard that ñeri can be used in Argentina to refer to a friend or "amigo" but can you also call use ñeri to refer to an amiga (female friend)?

Generally ÑERI is not a word used in Argentina. Maybe in any place it could be a kind of slang that I really don't know. I'm trying to think something else about it and ÑERI could be used to express these words COMPAÑERO or COMPAÑERA (male or female). As a result ÑERI does not have gender in order to talk with a man or a woman. This is only an opinion, I don´t know how to use this word. If you want to say friend in Spanish, talking to people from Argentina, just say AMIGO o AMIGA. If you say ÑERI, in my opinion only a few people could understand it.

In the young adults/adolescent slang you can say ñeri for a boy or girl and it is correct. We normally use ñeri as someone who you trust a lot. More than a friend. "Nos vamos a juntar con mi ñeri a tomar unos fernet"

My Argentine female friends sometimes refer to each other as "piba" I've also heard "chabón" / "chabona" used for "friend". In addition, I've heard "che" used between friends. As for "ñeri", I've never heard that one, but here's an excellent online Argentine dictionary that might help you: https://www.diccionarioargentino.com/ (ñeri) https://www.diccionarioargentino.com/term/%C3%B1eri

Hi Rebecca, “Ñeri” doesn’t mean friend and there’s not a female version. Please read a private message I’ve sent to you. IHIH LEO
