What type of book is most important to read nowadays? During numerous centuries reading has been an activity of great importance. It’s known to develop imagination, stimulate thinking processes and broaden one’s horizons. But which book genre plays the role of a book king? What type of books is crucial to read in order to obtain maximum benefits from reading? Let’s analyze in more detail two common points of view. The first high-valued book genre is fiction. On the one hand, it allows its reader to observe different fictitious characters, analyze their inner world and draw analogies with people from their real life. This way reading fiction books enhances better understanding of relationships’ patterns and enriches one’s philosophy. On the other hand, fiction always remains fiction and excessive ardour for this kind of literature may result in broken dreams and deep disillusionment for the reader. The second weighty type of literature is historic books. The main advantage of this genre is providing an opportunity to examine past events from a distant point of view and to learn from someone else's mistakes. However, historic literature is not always to blindlessly trust. History is a tricky subject and many authors of such a kind of books are notorious for omitting or disguising historic facts in order to comply with a certain political regime or a funding source. As far as my opinion is concerned, I suppose the most important genre to read is still fiction. Outstanding imagination and creativity a reader might develop in oneself reading novels is a priceless gift which comes along with deep insights into the world around us, that is, in my opinion, is far more critical for a successful life compared to just knowing a wide range of historical data.
