Taking a class with Yris was an incredible experience that truly transformed my relationship with the Spanish language. As a Dominican who grew up hearing Spanish out of necessity, I often felt a disconnect from my roots, but Yris helped bridge that gap. Her teaching style is both caring and patient, creating an environment where I felt safe to explore my struggles. She encouraged me to use vocabulary words in Spanglish to form sentences, which made me feel comfortable and allowed me to express myself without pressure. After crafting my sentences, Yris would type them out in full Spanish and have me read them aloud, patiently guiding me through the pronunciation and offering gentle corrections along the way. Her ability to connect language learning with my cultural heritage was powerful and inspiring, making each lesson feel like a journey of rediscovery. Yris has a gift for helping you feel proud of your progress while reconnecting you with your identity. Es una profesora increible!

I recently had a trial Spanish lesson with Yris on italki, and it was an excellent experience. Yris was very patient, well-prepared, and diligent throughout the session. She helped me plan and presented various options for my learning path, making it feel personalized. The homework she assigned was balanced in difficulty, both challenging and motivating.
