Hello! My name is Takeshi. I lived in Toronto for two years, and now I'm back in Japan! I also spent 9 months in the States. While I was in the States, I spent my time recording music in Chicago and studying English. I'm super passionate about music, movies, acting, creating content, and language. I'm also addicted to improving myself. I want to meet people who are serious about learning Japanese and whom I can share my vast knowledge with! I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Moi en tant que professeur
I've been professionally teaching Japanese for about three years. My specialties are casual Japanese and teaching phrases that only native speakers use! I help my students avoid directly translating things, as this often results in creating unnatural expressions (E.g When we hang out and friends look a bit bored, we don't say "Are you bored? We say "Do you wanna do something different? (何か違うことする?)in Japanese). Also, I break down common formal Japanese expressions and explain how you can make casual phrases with them. So that you can see the difference and pick proper expressions when you speak or write!
Mes leçons et ma méthode d'enseignement
I teach Japanese for a variety of use cases. For example, one of my students wants to be a flight attendant, so we practice a mix of formal and casual Japanese. Another one of my students wants to be funny when he speaks Japanese, so we speak casually and watch anime and comedy together! I always watch my student's favourite anime, shows and videos on youtube to learn natural expressions so that they can remember phrases and rewatch them whenever they forget the phrases we learned! I'm passionate about finding methods that suit my friends. (I call the people I teach, friends!)

Absolutely out of this WORLD! I couldn't have asked for a better teacher. Takeshi is the one to go to if you're serious about getting better at Japanese; he managed to work around some of my barriers when it comes to language learning and presented everything in such a way that I could feel as if I'd gained progress in only one lesson, and then walked away feeling like I've escaped a roadblock in my Japanese learning journey. I feel like I can actually see myself speaking Japanese in a year, which I never would've expected before now. That's crazy! Than you, Takeshi-sensei!

For this class I couldn't prepare like I always do. We started as always with a chit chat, we review a couple of videos I had studied but that I didn't have many questions and since we had time left, Takeshi brought a video to watch together, we watched it twice, one to assess how much I can understand and another one to solve doubts. I learned new vocabulary and had a laugh finding out the plot of the video. Takeshi sent me this video to review it again and make notations and another one to watch for next time. Always fun to hang out with Takeshi, he seems already like an old friend, so fun to talk to that I forget about the time. Thank you for the patience Takkun xP

This time I’ve watched some videos and jotted down all the new words and expressions. We started with a little chit chat in Japanese, catching up and all that, it was fun. We watched both videos together and review all the words and expressions. There were also many cultural references that I needed a bit more context to understand what it was talked about and Takeshi provided me with examples and even showed me videos and photos to see who the character is

Wow... Takeshi is exactly what I was looking for. I've been self-studying Japanese for a while, but never built up my confidence in speaking or listening. Takeshi has so many useful tips, tricks and methods to share - you HAVE to book a lesson :)

I had tons of material accumulated and many questions and we resolved together each one. There were plenty that I struggled with but Takeshi was patient with me and repeat the explanation when I needed it. As always, great class, I had a blast!

Takeshi did this particular lesson the day before he was leaving to study in the US and was still 100% fully attentive and focused on giving the best lesson he could! I've been taking weekly lessons with him for 9 month now and he continues to amaze me with his enthusiasm for teaching. Very happy with my Japanese progress now and I HIGHLY recommend him as an instructor!
