Constantin Mihai

Constantin is completely proficient in Latin, which does not cease to amaze me, and he's very good at rephrasing or explaining what I don't initially understand, all without using a word of English! It's also fun to just chat with him about anything!

Another great lesson. I can't stress enough how helpful these classes are in really internalizing Ancient Greek. Having just finished a lesson, the language feels like it is already more "really in my head" than ever before; I just spoke to my wife and almost instinctively began using Ancient Greek! τοῦτο δὲ μάλα ἀρέσκει μοι!

Constantin is a patient and kind. He's great at finding a balance between having fun and teaching the concepts.

Μιχαὴλ εὗρον πέρυσι ἐσπουδκὼς πολλὰ ἤδη ἔτη περὶ τῆς ἑλληνικῆς γλώσσης καὶ βουλόμενος μελετᾶν τὸ διαλέγεσθαι. ὁ δὲ Μιχαὴλ ἄρτι ἐφαίνετό μοι σπουδαιότατος καὶ ἐπιεικὴς ὤν, διδάσκων ὁτιοῦν ἔχει ἄσμενως μετὰ ἐλευθερίας τε καὶ φιλίας. μὴ οὖν ἀπορεῖ, ὦ ἀναγινώσκων, εἰ οἷός τε καὶ σύ μανθάνειν τὸ ἑλληνιστὶ διαλέγεσθαι. μὴ δὲ θαύμαζε εἰ, πολὺν ἤδη χρόνον ἀνηλωκὼς μάτην ἄλλῃ σπουδάζων περὶ τῆς γλώσσης, καλέσας “advanced” καίπερ οὐκ ἔχων τι τῷ ὄντι λέγειν, τοῦ Μιχαὴλ ὀλίγον χρόνον διδάσκοντος, ἐξαίφνης δείνος ἑλληνίζειν γίνῃ. ἔχων γὰρ τὸν Μιχαὴλ ὡς διδάσκαλον, μαθήσει εὐθέως, ἐάν τοι ὁ Θεός - καὶ σύ αὐτός - ἐθέλῃ!

I can feel Mihai's genuine passion for Latin and classical culture. Having mostly finished Familia Romana, even though I’ve always struggled with understanding and mastering grammar, he has remained patient with me throughout. It’s been such a memorable journey.

We just had our first lesson with Constantin. It was an introductory lesson so that we could get to know each other. My son set the goal for himself to learn Ancient Greek. So the first half of the lesson we went over goals and how to attain them, and then Constantin went over the alphabet and some basics with him to gage where he is at. We are excited to get started working with him!
