I wouldn’t be able to introduce myself without mentioning foreign languages. Following my parents' desire for me to experience a broader world beyond just Korea, I was naturally exposed to foreign languages from a young age. In middle school, I became very interested in learning English and even memorized the entire textbook passages. In university, I chose to double major in French and Chinese, as I wanted to study languages beyond English. After graduating, I worked at Samsung, handling international sales, where I used foreign languages in my daily work. Based on these experiences, I aim to be a Korean teacher who approaches students with an open mind and understands their perspectives.
Moi en tant que professeur
During my third semester of graduate school, I had the opportunity to meet foreign language learners for the first time while participating in a Korean language teaching practicum. Although it was just a practicum, I was able to teach Korean based on the lesson plans I had created, presenting vocabulary and grammar to the students.
Later, as I was working on my thesis in my fifth semester, I applied for a graduate student tutor position for a summer Korean language program at Georgia Tech in the United States. I was assigned two beginner-level students and primarily taught speaking classes. The experience was both rewarding and motivating.
Mes leçons et ma méthode d'enseignement
I am a teacher who strives to understand the needs and challenges of my learners, and I am empathetic to the difficulties of learning a foreign language. I am patient with students when they struggle, offering encouragement to help build their confidence and motivation. I don’t stick to the same teaching style but try different approaches to keep students engaged. By incorporating simple quizzes and tasks, I help students internalize what they've learned. I aim to combine the materials and topics that students are interested in with what I believe is essential for their learning, creating lessons that are both enjoyable and educational.
