Hi! I’m Emily, an American living in Pennsylvania. I recently spent a year teaching English in France. Now I teach French at a university in the USA, and I am working on my PhD in French. I also have a Master's in English linguistics. In my studies, I've learned a lot about language acquisition (how we learn new languages) and language variety (accents). I have also taught English to students of different ages. Besides my native language of English, I speak French fluently and am learning Italian and Russian. When I’m not studying new languages, I enjoy cooking, running, drawing, and playing saxophone.
Moi en tant que professeur
My experience as a student on iTalki led me to become a tutor on iTalki. My lessons are focused on informal conversation, because this is one of the best ways to learn a language. We can talk about anything that interests you. For example, we can discuss literature, language, music, psychology, current events, food, or cultural differences. If you would like, I can send you articles or videos to inspire our conversations. Of course, if there is a particular point of grammar or pronunciation that you want to work on, I am happy to help with that as well. But mostly we will focus on conversation and developing fluency!
