My name is Dioni. I am originally from Puerto Rico, but I lived in the U.S. for many years, and later in Iceland where I completed a BA in Icelandic as a second language from the University of Iceland. I am currently working on a master's degree in linguistics, also at the University of Iceland. I have a wide background in the humanities, with a previous degree from the Harvard Extension School which I bring to bear on teaching Icelandic.Moi en tant que professeur
I strive to focus on students' needs, taking into account the fact that people have different reasons for learning Icelandic. I understand that the desire to learn a new language can be rather fickle, so my goal is to keep you motivated by balancing the practicalities of learning Icelandic with your own particular interest in the language.Mes leçons et ma méthode d'enseignement
I aim to balance all the elements of learning a foreign language. We can focus on grammar, pronunciation, conversation, or other aspects of the Icelandic language according to your needs. Dioni is an excellent, engaging and patient teacher! Because of his linguistics background, he is able to break down complex Icelandic grammar concepts into approachable pieces for the beginner, and then challenge you to use these concepts in ordinary conversation. He is also flexible and able to adapt his teaching and style to the student's particular goals for the lesson. Classes are always animated and fun!

I decided to wait a few lessons before writing a review for Dioni. I highly recommend him as an Icelandic teacher. I had been trying to learn on my own, but his help has made learning this difficult language much easier (and more fun). He relates Icelandic to my native language, English, which helps piece things together for me. In our lessons, he challenges me enough to reveal my weaknesses so that I know what to study between sessions. Simultaneously, he is encouraging, which keeps learning a positive experience. I believe his background as a professional linguist is key to him being such a wonderful teacher.
