Jumpei

I have taken lessons with Jumpei Sensei for over 6 months. We started with very basic grammar and used various resources to study and practice. He will select, and even create personalized homework to help improve weaknesses and introduce new Japanese grammar and vocab to make learning feel natural. Jumpei Sensei is a professional teacher, and as such is very skilled at explaining the nuances and native flow of Japanese. Every lesson he will help you practice the correct way of speaking and help you figure out how to say what you want to say in the clearest way that your level of understanding allows. I’ve been taking lessons with Jumpei sensei for around six months now. I booked my trial lesson on a whim and didn’t really think it was something I would seriously continue with, but here we are. It’s all thanks to Jumpei. He has a real knack for knowing how much to ask for and when. Each lesson is challenging, but never more so than to make me want to keep going. Jumpei is always well-prepared, attentive and kind. He’s been irreplaceable in my Japanese-learning journey, and if you’re looking for a Japanese teacher, I can only recommend him. Thank you!

I learned so much in this lesson! Jumpei identified specific phrases I often use that accidentally sound impolite, and he carefully explained the problems with each phrase and then taught me what I should say instead. I really appreciated this, and I'm so glad that Jumpei taught me these things! Jumpei is a very attentive teacher. He always notices patterns in my speech and writing, and then breaks down the problems and teaches me how to fix them. Any students who are serious about learning Japanese or improving their Japanese should take lessons with Jumpei.

He couldn’t explain very well concepts and questions and just said they are different. He asked me to look up youtube videos to learn one of the concepts. There was no feedback, no written notes nor chats. He turned up on a video in a tank top with a messy house background. Unfortunately I think it’s a waste of my time and money. I don’t think he is a professional teacher, just someone casually practising Japanese with small talk.

Jumpei-san is an excellent teacher. Even though I only really know some random words from a few weeks of using Duolingo he was able to get me to talk about myself and I learnt a lot of new vocabulary and grammar in the trial lesson. I'm excited to learn more!
