Another interesting lesson where we went through my homework about the okupa movement in Spain and talked about that, then Mónica picked up on one of the themes that came up during that discussion to segue into a new scene about the treatment of older people in Columbia and the UK. Classes usually run like this, with the first half discussing the issue that I covered in my homework assignment and Mónica then naturally bringing the conversation into a new area that we had touched upon during the first half of the class, so it feels like it flows well and we continue to talk about things that feel relevant and interesting.

Another interesting lesson where Mónica taught me more about life in Colombia (specifically, employment benefits). I’d chosen to write my homework task on environmental activists, and Mónica was quick to find a relevant video clip for us to watch and to use as a discussion point and talk about the topic in more depth. Muchas gracias!

Today we talked about the topic we had planned for the lesson (adoption), but we also spent time talking about a whole range of topics such as racism and the island mentalities of the UK and Medellín. Mónica asks thought-provoking questions and the time goes by very quickly when we’re talking together. ¡Muchas gracias!

Great first lesson where we discussed my background and goals and Mónica gave me a short DELE exam exercise (as I’m aiming to take the exam in a few months) to ensure that our future lessons suit my needs.
