I'm a native Japanese speaker living abroad for over 10 years. I've been teaching Japanese on iTalki since 2020!
Although I barely spoke English until age 26, I decided to live abroad. It was very tough at the beginning but I developed my English by taking lessons, studying on my own, and talking with real people in real life.
I'd love to share my experience with you who are trying to gain a new language skill. I love travelling and have visited over 20 countries. I always enjoy meeting new people from all over the world and knowing their cultures and life :)
Moi en tant que professeur
Although I have never formally trained in teaching languages, I have voluntarily taught Japanese for many years. I’ve attended language exchange lessons in Toronto and New York and taught Japanese to people from all over the world (e.g. Americans, Canadians, Russians, Polish, Germans, Chinese, Koreans, Indians, etc.) from very beginners to fluent learners.
In the Spring of 2020, I started conversation lessons in Japanese and English on iTalki. Soon after, I started teaching grammar due to high demand. I offer my original documents as well as external articles. I can also revise your writing and speaking.
In all my lessons, I can translate between Japanese and English.
Mes leçons et ma méthode d'enseignement
I think the best way to practice languages is;
1. To understand basic grammar structure and try making your own example sentences.
2. To have conversations with native speakers who understand or try to understand what you want to say.
3. getting your words and sentences corrected by native speakers
As native speakers acquire their language skills naturally, there are not always certain rules or logic.
I will give examples of what you want to say in Japanese from a native tongue.
Also as I speak English fluently, I can explain confusing parts of Japanese compared to English and other European languages (I've learned a bit of German, Spanish, Italian and Chinese)

I've taken lessons with Eno for almost 2 years now! I've been using a combination of phone apps and online lessons to improve my Japanese. Since Eno's English is good, he can explain grammar and similar vocabulary very well. He and I get along well, having much in common. Its often difficult to find the real usage of a word or phrase, and Eno has been able to provide excellent context. He also points out when textbook or online material is not realistic and comes up with better ways of saying something.

Eno has been very helpful in guiding me through Japanese Grammar throughout all the lessons taken with him. He crafts a custom lesson for you and starts with the very basics and works up to advance grammatical structures. He has been great to work with and recommend anyone to him for improving their Japanese grammar and speaking skills.

Eno is a brilliant teacher.
As well as being a fun and friendly person to talk to, his English language ability is amazing so he is able to explain the nuances of Japanese grammar in ways that are easy to understand.
I’m not an easy student to teach since I’m a very shy person who is easily embarrassed, and I hate making mistakes!
But despite that Eno always manages to put me at ease and get me talking, and I come out of every lesson feeling more confident, and armed with all sorts of useful new knowledge.

Eno is an excellent teacher. I came in with a very mixed background of a lot of self study with no formal classes, and Eno has helped to construct a good lesson plan for me to learn to the grammer that I am interested in improving in.
Additionally, Eno has very good English and does a great job explains Grammer points that are hard to understand.
Also he keeps a folder of documents and custom lessons that I can keep, and each lesson will make sure to review older topics to make sure that I am making progress.
He is also a fun guy who has spent many years in the UK, so he has a lot of understanding of the differences between cultures.
Highly recommend for those who are serious and committed to learning and making consistent improvement!

I enjoyed the lesson; the grammar explanations made sense and it didn't feel overwhelming. I appreciate that as I'm still very much a beginner, and the homework doesn't feel daunting.

Eno was really good at breaking down parts of Japanese grammar for me this first lesson, and explaining things I had questions about. It was easy to understand, and definitely very helpful! I'm a total beginner at Japanese, but I didn't feel lost and it was a very enjoyable first lesson.
