Hallo! I'm Miguel, a 'bon-vivant', born and raised in Holland. I studied art at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Den Haag, and Film and Literature Theory at the University of Leiden. So I guess it's safe to say that I have a cultural background. I'm also a fanatic 'foodie' and chef. I now live and work in Koh Tao, Thailand, as a Scuba dive instructor. Apparently I make the lessons fun and entertaining, while breaking down the Dutch language in an easy-going and fun way.
Since Covid I have been working as a Dutch tutor with Italki. I really like to help people with their Dutch. So far I have done more than 5000 lessons with people from 75 different countries around the world.

I have gained a lot of experience in the past years with Italki. So I have developed different methods or styles in teaching, so we can figure out which way suits you the best. I believe that speaking is the best training, so I will focus on speaking.
Also for the beginners: have no fear! I am pretty laid-back and I can adapt my lessons to your level. You will feel comfortable trying to speak Dutch Also, I have been living abroad long enough now, to have lost my 'Dutch directness' a bit and I get along quite well with people from different cultures.
I like to keep things quite casual during the lessons, but if you like your lessons a bit more strict, than that´s not a problem as well.Mes leçons et ma méthode d'enseignement
Based on your interests and learning goals, I will customize your classes to your specific needs.
For the beginners classes, I have lots of Dutch textbooks in PDF, such as 'Nederlands in Gang' (A1/A2), 'Nederlands in Actie' (B1), or 'De Delftse Methode´. These books use different methods, so we can discuss which is best for you.
I can also train you for the different language state exams: Inburgering, NT2, EER, etc.
For the more advanced students, who want to practice conversation: We can address different topics, or debate on issues, or practice business Dutch. I am open to anything.
But all in a laid-back and relaxed manner, to ensure you will enjoy your lessons!Mes ressources d'enseignement

I definitely recommend Miguel if you are looking for a superb Dutch teacher! He is always extremely well prepared, reliable and knowledgeable and, besides that, also has a relaxed, encouraging style, which makes me feel very comfortable to speak. His sense of fun and humour and his natural gift for teaching ensure that I enjoyed and educated myself at the same time. :)

Miguel has helped me pass 2 of my integration exams so far and I feel like I have already improved my speaking and listening skills a lot. He very quickly figured out how to help me with my language learning difficulties, and the lessons are fun! I really recommend this teacher!

Miguel is een topdocent! Hij zorgt ervoor dat je je altijd comfortabel voelt om te spreken tijdens de les, onafhankelijk van je Nederlands niveau. De lessen zijn leerzaam en je kunt altijd goede gesprekken hebben over allerlei onderwerpen die je interessant vindt. Ik ben al drie jaar met hem bezig om het Nederlands te leren en ben daar heel tevreden over. Een aanrader!
