À propos de moi
Professeur italki depuis le 14 Jun 2021
Sujets d'intérêtMusiqueHistoire
I'm Simon and I'm from Turin, Piedmont, north-western Italy.
I am a Piedmontese speaker. I graduated as an architect and I'm practicing in my province.
I enjoy drawing, 3D-modeling, learning languages, and learning about history and geography. I especially like maps and mapping.
In the spare time during my university years I've contributed to the Piedmontese Wikipedia and other projects of translation, and I've collected samples and recordings of Piedmontese dialects from native elders.
I've run a couple of pages about Piedmontese.
Moi en tant que professeur
The main reason that makes me teach Piedmontese is that none teaches it.
My actually job is not one that involves teaching, but I've had some experience during my year as civil servant in a middle school, and if I am prepared about a topic, I think there is some chance I can teach it as clearly as I have it my mind.
Throughout the years I've seen that the demand for learning Piedmontese is quite high, but people don't find any ease at getting in touch with the language and the rare speakers. Given a kickstart, I can help students go as further as their curiosity leads them, opening up the online and offline resources that are available.
Mes leçons et ma méthode d'enseignement
I'd start teaching the three pillars of the language: phonology, grammar and syntax.
The orthography I use is that of the Brandé poets, which is a century old standard version of the classical Piedmontese writing system, which is very typical of Northern Italian languages.
Grammar and syntax are much easier to teach if a constant comparison is made between the native language of the students, be them Spanish or Italian, with the Piedmontese version.
I can tell them about the etymology of the words, (using the R.E.P. by the Ca dë Studi Piemontèis as reference). I can provide music with lyrics, articles from local newspapers, flashcards, guide the reading of poems and other excerpts.

Grassie!
