오늘은 한국에서 많이 쓰이는 단어, [갓생]에 대해 이야기해 보려고 해요. 혹시 들어본 적 있으신가요? 
갓생은 단순히 유행어가 아니라, 한국의 문화와 삶의 가치를 담고 있는 단어예요. 이와 관련된 재미있는 표현들도 함께 소개해 드릴게요!

갓생 (God-Life)
갓생은 영어 God와 한국어 '생'의 조합이에요. '생'은 삶을 의미하죠. 그래서 갓생은 생산적이고, 규칙적이며, 목표를 달성하는 "신적인 삶"을 뜻해요. 예를 들어, 매일 아침 일찍 일어나 운동하고, 공부하고, 계획한 일을 모두 이루는 사람을 보면 "정말 갓생 산다!"라고 말할 수 있어요.

"나는 이번 주도 갓생 살기로 결심했어."
I've decided to live a productive life again this week."
한국 사회는 자기계발과 성실함을 중요하게 생각하는데, 갓생이라는 단어가 그런 문화를 잘 보여주고 있죠.

갓반인 (Ordinary Person)
그런가 하면, 갓반인이라는 단어도 있어요. 이것은 "갓"과 "일반인"의 조합인데요, 일반인은 평범한 사람을 뜻해요. 주로 덕후, 즉 팬덤에 푹 빠진 사람들이 자신과는 다른 평범한 사람들을 표현할 때 사용해요.

"나는 덕후로 살다 보니 갓반인이 너무 부럽다."
"As a passionate enthusiast, I sometimes envy ordinary people."
이 표현은 덕후들 사이에서 자조적이면서도 유머러스하게 사용된답니다.

머글 (Muggle)
머글은 Harry Potter에서 온 단어로, 팬덤이나 특정 취미와 관계없는 사람을 뜻해요. K-pop 팬들이 자주 사용하는 표현이기도 해요.

"내 친구는 완전 머글이라 내가 덕질하는 걸 이해 못 해."
"My friend is a total muggle, so they don’t get my fan obsession."

현생 (Real Life)
마지막으로, 현생은 현실 생활의 줄임말이에요. 현실 세계의 책임이나 일 때문에 취미나 팬 활동에 집중할 수 없을 때 주로 쓰이죠.

"요즘 현생이 너무 바빠서 덕질을 못 하고 있어."
"I'm too busy with real life these days to indulge in my fandom."

NATASHA: What time is it? We’re going to be late!
TONY: It’s a quarter after seven. We’re on time. Don’t panic.
NATASHA: But I thought we had to be at the restaurant by 7:30 for 
the surprise party. We’ll never make it there with all this 
evening traffic.
TONY: Sure we will. Rush hour is almost over. Anyway, the party 
starts at 8:00. But I do need help with directions. Can you 
call the restaurant and ask them where we park our car?




LANGUAGE NOTES
• It’s a quarter after seven. This phrase is one of the most common ways of stating 
this time. It means: “It’s 15 minutes past 7:00.” Another possibility here is to simply 
say: “It’s seven fifteen.” In general you can say: “It’s a quarter past the hour.” How do 
we know the time of day? Look for context clues: “evening traffic.”
• In the dialog, Natasha and Tony are going to a surprise party. They need to be on time. 
Therefore there is an element of stress and urgency. When someone is stressed for 
time you can use expressions like: Don’t worry. / Don’t stress. / We’re fine. / We will 
be on time.
• Natasha thinks the surprise party begins at 7:30. There are two different ways to 
express this time. You may say simply “seven thirty” or “half past seven.”
• Rush hour is the time of day—usually in the morning and evening—when traffic is 
heavy because of people commuting to and from their workplace by bus, by car, by 
subway, on foot, etc.

这个星期中国最火的话题之一是新东方直播。新东方是一家教育培训公司，是做出国的英语培训起家的，后来也做中小学基础教育。因为疫情影响，出国的人变少了。2021年7月中国开始实施“双减”政策。第一、减轻义务教育阶段学生的作业负担，第二、减轻校外培训负担。这个政策对教育培训机构造成了巨大的影响，很多老师失业，机构也不得不开始转型。
新东方在2021年底开始了直播带货，卖农产品。但是一开始并没有什么人关注，直播间只有几十个人观看。经过半年的坚持努力，新东方直播间从最初平均单场直播销售额不足30万，逆袭为现在的单场平均销售额近1500万。3天时间，粉丝增加近160万，销售额增加1777万元。
他们是如何做到的呢？今年6月份以来，“新东方直播间”队伍登场，带货主播都是新东方的英语老师。他们一边说英语，一边介绍产品。网友开玩笑说，买个东西还可以免费学英语。其中人气最高的是董宇辉，他不仅幽默，还很有才华。在他的直播间，你不仅可以学英语，还可以听他讲优美的诗词。他会分享他的经验和故事，你会因为他的坚持和乐观而感动。
董老师的一段话让我很感动，他对那些经历过痛苦的人说：“运气可能会来也可能不会来，但是这不影响你本来要坚守的心。痛苦是对的，痛苦源于对现状的不满。痛苦的人才有欲望去改变一切。痛苦就是力量”
