I think as a non-native Chinese speaker, you suppose to know something of Chinese culture as well as language to be able to fully appreciate and understand the nuances  implicit in the use of homophones.

空中帝国に住む人間は、空中帝国で生まれて、空中帝国で死んでいくことを くりかえしていくうちに、
「人間の住む場所は、空中帝国だ」と信じてうたがわなくなりました。
しかし、カンパネラは こどものころ、たしかに赤毛の女の子を見ました。
『森』にも人間は住んでいるのです。

『森』におり立ったカンパネラは、突然、背中のジェットを噴射させてとびあがりました。
おどろいたのは、まわりの研究者たち。
「みなさん、ごめんなさい」
みんなの制止も聞かず、カンパネラは隊からはずれました。
いきさきは決まっていました。
湖のほとり、あの赤毛の女の子がいたところです。
望遠鏡で女の子を見つけた日から２０年間、ずっとこの機会をうかがっていたのでした。

半日もすると、ようやくそこに着きました。
あのとき望遠鏡で見たまんま、湖のほとりはコケでうめつくされています。
