This idiom vividly expresses a kind of power and potential that lies dormant, suggesting that extraordinary talents and strength may be hidden beneath an ordinary exterior.
字面 zì miàn：literal
隐藏 yǐn cáng：hide
形象地 xíng xiàng de：figuratively
外表 wài biǎo：appearance;exterior
平凡 píng fán：ordinary; common
潜在的 qián zài de：potential; prospective
不为人知 bù wéi rén zhī：unknown;obscure
