Con estas conversaciones para aprender español descubrirás un montón de expresiones y vocabulario de la vida diaria que podrás utilizar cuando hables con alguien en español sobre los propósitos de año nuevo y quieras sonar como un nativo.  Este es el segundo episodio de una nueva serie de vídeos llamada "Diálogos Cotidianos" que está orientada principalmente a estudiantes de español con un nivel intermedio o avanzado. Como siempre, este vídeo también está dividido en tres partes principales: primero escucharás la conversación a una velocidad lenta y podrás leer el texto en la pantalla, luego en la segunda parte recibirás una corta explicación sobre las expresiones y el vocabulario más avanzado que se usó en la conversación y finalmente en la última parte escucharás nuevamente el diálogo pero a una velocidad normal, para que así pongas a prueba lo que has aprendido. Este ejercicio te ayudará a desarrollar tu comprensión auditiva y llevará tu español a un nuevo nivel para que suenes como un nativo de la lengua española.

Once you can positively identify what your ultimate goal is, I want you to divide these goals into smaller goals or you can say this is the part where you lower your goals a little, and this is ok. It doesn’t make you a lesser human being. How many goals have been unfulfilled because the initial expectation was too high? Too many learners just give up completely. Lower your goal until you reach a base point which you can reach within 7 days. Once you have achieved this base point, work your way up to the next 7 days and then the 7 days further and so forth. You can have many of these lower goals or outpost goals, as I like to call them. These outposts will give an indication of your learning journey and whether it is feasible to continue on the same path. If something doesn’t work, modify it to suit the problems you face in your learning. Make sure you also modify your outpost based on how much time you are prepared to spend on your learning. Be realistic about it. If you are tired at the end of the day, do not schedule learning time at this time or at least try to cut down on learning at this hour. At the end of the day, you know your mental state better than anyone else.

5 Useful Phrases for the IELTS Speaking Test

Taking the IELTS Speaking test is not difficult and in fact, you can even get a band score of 8 to 9…if you know what you are doing.

The IELTS Speaking test lasts for about 11-14 minutes. It is designed to assess your pronunciation, fluency, grammar, and vocabulary. It is divided into three parts.

When taking the IELTS Speaking test, you have to keep in mind that using effective phrases will help you get a high band score. Vocabulary and grammar are two of the criteria in this part of the IELTS test.


Here are some ideas to help you succeed at it and to impress the examiner!

1. Opening Statements
How you open your statements is your first opportunity to impress the examiner. 

Examples:

Today, I’d like to share with you about…
In this talk, I’m going to tell you how…

2. Closing statements
The manner in which you end your statements plays a vital role in the IELTS speaking test too.

Examples:

In conclusion…
To sum up…
To summarize

3. Beginning the Main Body of Your Speech 
Once you are asked a question or given a topic to talk about, be creative and use phrases and expressions that the examiner will find appealing. 

Examples:

 First and foremost….
And why do I find it so appealing? It is, after all….
To begin with… 

4. Building on Your Idea
When you have started talking about your topic, you would want to include some background information and some explanations and examples to help develop your topic. 

Examples:

Another reason why I like…
One of the main advantages…
One of the consequences…

5. Expressing Your Opinions
You should change your words while presenting your viewpoint on a subject, just as you should when adding personal experiences, rather than repeating the phrase ‘I think’.

Examples:

In my opinion…
I firmly believe that…
From my point of view…
