What is the correct date order? I’m going to the doctor on 4th December. I’m going to the doctor on December 4th. I’m going to the doctor on 4 (four) December. I’m going to the doctor on December 4(four). And is it four or is it fourth? Why doesn’t everyone write “th” (or st after 1 and nd after 2,3) after a number? And how do you say it in everyday’s English?

In British English, they write the day before the month. UK: 4 December US: December 4 (It would extremely formal to write "4th." It's usually only done in contracts or other legal documents.) But even if they write the date differently in British English, they still say it in the same order as we do in the US: either "December fourth" (less formal) or "the fourth of December" (more formal.)

It depends on where you are. In the U.S., we would say "December fourth" for any of these and write it as either December 4 or December 4th. If you're also giving the year, you would leave off the "th" (or "st" or "nd"). So any of these would work: December 4, 2022 December 4 December 4th In the U.K., they write 4th December. I think they say both "December fourth" or "fourth of December." I have heard Jamaicans say "four December" and "December four," so perhaps there is also a Caribbean variant. Not sure how they write it. So: I suggest saying "December fourth," but writing either December 4 or 4 December, depending on who's reading it. Sorry that's not very straightforward...
