Could you, please, tell me what's the difference between DO PREPARATION and MAKE PREPARATIONS?

Hello, Valentina. Could you tell me where you’ve heard of “do preparations”? Was it used by a native English speaker? The only collocation I know is “make preparations for smth or to do smth”. You can also say that somebody’s in preparation for something else.
