Ridhi
In India, we celebrate the New Year a day after Diwali, which is known as the Hindu New Year. We begin the day by making rangoli (colorful patterns made with powdered colors) outside the entrance of our homes. We also decorate our houses with lights, flower garlands, and hangers. Families prepare a variety of sweets and snacks to welcome guests. Many Hindus visit each other's homes to exchange New Year wishes. In the evening, we light diyas (oil lamps) and celebrate with firecrackers, creating a vibrant and joyous atmosphere.
